Ultrasound Tech (PT) POSITION SUMMARY: The Tech Ultrasound is
responsible for the day-to-day operations (patient flow) and
efficiency of the ultrasound department. The technologist must have
knowledge of all areas within the ultrasound Department. Must
utilize the principles of continuous quality improvement in
collaboration with other health team members. The Ultrasound
Technologist performs ultrasound examinations according to the
currently accepted practices of the ARDMS and Northwest Texas
Healthcare System. The technologist will prepare technical reports,
exam rooms, equipment and supplies for procedures. Key Performance
Functions and Respondibilities: Performs a variety of Technical
procedures. Assist Radiologist and Staff Physicians with test.
Demonstrates ultrasound abdomen/OB skills needed for all positions.
Demonstrates good patient care. Utilizes the appropriate leadership
skill in supervising students and providing feedback concerning
student performance. Demonstrates good communication and problem
solving skills. Is a professional role model for personnel.
Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors
and employees. The ultrasound technologist will assess risks to
patient safety and implement the appropriate precaution. The
ultrasound technologist will comply with appropriate and approved
standards relating to: patients, infection control, and

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS
REQUIRED:
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
upon hire and maintain certification throughout employment
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
and/or Cardiology Credentialing International (CCI) attempted with
18 - 24 months of hire date Physical and Sensory Requirements:
- Ability to read and write in English
- Ability to speak and hear, to allow discussions with employees
and peers
- Ability to cope with and remain calm under stress
- Ability to show organization and leadership
- Ability to respond to pages
- Near-Visual acuity and depth perception to examine exposed
films for detail
- Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make
independent decisions
- Bending and lifting (50-75 lbs), grasping, fine hand
coordination, pushing and pulling
- Electrical and radiant energy hazards are present
- Exposure to infectious organisms, agent, and toxic chemicals
